The Color Guard assembles at the back of the
room with the flags in this order:
First the US Flag carrier
Second the Pack Flag carrier
Two single lines of scouts, side by side.
The Captain of the Color Guard comes to the front of the room.
Captain of the Guard: "Would you please stand for the presentation of our nation's flag." Wait for everyone to stand.
"Color Guard, ADVANCE!" The Cub Scout carrying the US Flag leads the rest of the Scouts marching down the center aisle in the above formation. The Scouts march up the stairs to the center of the stage. The US Flag carrier turns left. The Pack Flag carrier turns right. The cubs in the left line follow the US Flag carrier to the left. The cubs in the right line follow the Pack Flag carrier to the right. The Scouts advance to the flag stands, then stop and face the audience.The Captain of the Guard salutes then lowers his hand as the US Flag passes him. (The Scouts in the Color Guard do NOT salute. They are busy guarding the Flags.)
"Color Guard, POST THE COLORS!" The Scout carrying the US Flag places the flagpole into the flag stand first, then the Scout carrying the Pack Flag places it in its stand.
To the audience the Captain of the Guard says, "Would you please join me in the Pledge of Allegiance." He then faces the flag.
"CUB SCOUTS SALUTE!" All the Scouts turn and salute the flag.
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag
of the United States of America,
and to the Republic,
for which it stands,
one nation,
under God,
with liberty and justice for all."
"TWO!" The Captain of the Guard and the Scouts lower their hands.
To the audience, the Captain of the Guard says, "Cub Scouts, remain standing and join me in the Cub Scout Promise." The Captain of the Guard raised his hand in the Cub Scout Sign.
"I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people, and to obey the Law of the Pack."
The Captain of the Guard says, "Please take your seats."
"Color Guard, RETREAT!" The Scout who carried the US Flag leads his line down the steps, then to the center aisle and down the center aisle to the back of the room. The Scout who carried the Pack Flag also leads his line down the steps to the center aisle and joins the first line, side-by-side, to the back of the room where they stop.
"Color Guard, DISMISSED!" The Captain of the Guard and the Scouts all return to their Dens.
Pack Closing Ceremony
The Color Guard assembles at the back of the room in two single files, side by side.
The Captain of the Color Guard comes to the front of the room.
Captain of the Guard: "Would you please stand for the retiring of our nation's flag." Wait for everyone to stand.
"Color Guard, ADVANCE!" The two lines march down the center aisle and up the stage stairs. The left line turns to the left towards the US Flag where they stop and face the audience. The right line turns to the right towards the Pack Flag where they stop and face the audience.
"Color Guard, RETIRE THE COLORS!" The first Scout lifts the US Flag from its stand first, and then the second Scout lifts the Pack Flag from its stand.
"Color Guard, RETREAT!" Each Flag carrier leads his line down the steps, then to center aisle. The US Flag carrier goes first down the aisle followed by the Pack Flag carrier. The two lines of cubs follow the flags to the back of the room in the same formation as in the Opening Ceremony, above. The Captain of the Guard salutes then lowers his hand as the US Flag passes him. (The Scouts in the Color Guard do NOT salute. They are busy guarding the Flags.) The Color Guard Scouts stop at the back of the room.
"Color Guard, DISMISSED!" The Captain of the Guard and the Scouts all return to their Dens.
The Cub Master may have some closing remarks, or simply announce, "PACK DISMISSED!"
