Cub Scout Leader's
training:
You are considered 100% trained and eligible to wear the "Trained" emblem
on your uniform when you have completed the following:
Fast Start
Training — Fast Start Training On-Line is tailored for each
registered position and must be viewed as soon as possible after accepting
a leadership role. Fast Start is the foundation of Basic Training.
Youth Protection
Training — Every two years. This is a part of the Cub
Scout Basic Training and is available on line as well.
Cub Scout Basic Training — Basic Training covers some topics
in detail and introduces some skills to help get you started as a more confident
and skilled leader. Basic training is a requirement for all Cub Scout leader
awards. Training is offered at various dates throughout the year. See this

Youth Protection Training is required for at least one adult present during any event or activity on a local or national tour permit. Further, every adult participating in nationally sponsored events and activities must be trained in Youth Protection. You can take Youth Protection Training On-Line.Youth Protection Training is required by our chartering partner, St. Patrick's Church, every two years for all adult leaders. Although your completion of training will automatically be entered into your training record at the National Capital Area Council, please, each time you complete your Youth Protection Training, advise the Pack Committee Chairperson.
Webelos Leader Outdoor Training (WLOT) for Bear and Webelos I leaders. This day-long training event provides immediately useable information you can take to the woods. The training is lively, hands-on, exciting and filled with fun things to help you lead your Webelos Den. Learn about what other Webelos leaders are doing with their Dens. Activities include knots, knives and woods tools, tents, site selection, bedding, camp fires, propane stoves and cooking and work on all outdoor \activity awards. The training also provides the outdoor experience credit needed for the Webelos Leader Training Award. Note this training does not satisfy the requirements for BALOO training to lead an overnighter. Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) this day-long training event provides immediately usable information you can take to the woods. The training includes sessions on planning a pack overnighter program, equipment to bring, health & safety requirements, and more. In addition, you will have the experience of making your own lunch. NOTE this training is required to lead an Overnighter. BALOO training is offered at various dates. Local Tour Permits
are required for the following trips: All day trips more than 50 miles from
the Chartered Partner (St. Patrick's Church, Rockville);overnight; or any
activity involving aquatic, caving, horseback riding, rappelling, rifle or
shotgun shooting. District events do not require a tour permit. Permits are
approved by the Council's Information Director. They can be mailed to Marriott
Scout Service Center, 9190 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20814, faxed to
301-564-9513 or brought in person to the Marriott Scout Service Center at
the front desk for approval. They must be filed two weeks in advance
of the scheduled trip. Approved permits are mailed back to the tour leader

NOTICE Each local or national tour permit application must include
proof of Youth Protection Training by one of the unit leaders attending the
trip or outing. In most cases this will be a photocopy of your BSA training
card issued at the youth protection-training course. However, according to
